Gas Assisted Injection Molding Machine

Gas assist molding is a low-pressure plastic injection molding process where pressurized nitrogen gas is injected into the mold, pushing the plastic into the mold extremities, while hollowing out thicker sections in the part. In the gas assist molding process, the plastic material is melted and injected into the mold cavities via the conventional plastic injection molding process.

The gas used in gas-assisted injection molding must be an inert gas (usually nitrogen). The maximum pressure of the gas is 35MPa. The maximum pressure of the special one is up to 70MPa with its nitrogen purity ≥98%. The gas-assisted control unit is a device that controls the gas injection time and pressure.

By coring out the melt center, gas injection molding enables the packing force (which compensates for differential shrinkage) to be transmitted directly to those areas of the molding which require attention. This dramatically reduces differentials in shrinkage and thus the sinkage.
